Second morning on Tenerife. The plan was simple: climb to Teide and descent back to our finca in 4 hours, before the workshops begin. We started before sunrise, in freezing cold that ultimately never ended: the higher you climb — the more you warm up, but the colder the air becomes. The ascend itself was surprisingly smooth and enjoyable: broad road, pretty much no cars. The only factor that made us struggle was time that was running out faster than expected — so no pauses in-between, just pedalling, meter by meter getting closer to the final waypoint. My personal goal was reaching Teleférico del Teide — a cableway station. The asphalt road terminates here — it's the highest point on the way to El Teide that you can reach on a road bike. A cup of espresso with Marius on elevation of 2320m — done! The best coffee in my life.
First morning on Tenerife. Komoot 'roadrudel' is finally complete and ready to enjoy the sunrise together. We were sweating and laughing, fighting with gravity of Canarian steep climbs. Suddenly a bright rainbow appeared on the clear blue sky, cheering for us.
