Marskramerpad: from Den Haag to Bad Bentheim - 372 km - LAW 3 / E11

Marskramerpad – Marskramers and Hessenlui" Hanneke mowers, kiepkerels (kiepenkerle), peddlers (= marskramers) and tödden roamed our country, looking for work and buyers for the goods they carried on their backs. Not harmless on those unpaved, poorly passable roads where robbers lurked, eager for merchandise and hard-earned pennies. Not to mention the hard-to-ford places along the way and the wildlife. The merchants passed through remote farms and villages and were at the cradle of later large retail chains."The Marskramerpad is the long-distance walking path 3, which according to the book actually runs from east to west of the Netherlands, but I will walk the route the other way around. I would like to (i) walk towards Germany and (ii) the Marskramerpad is the Dutch part of the E11 and it ends at the border between Poland and Lithuania and the 'control freak' in me would like to keep the option open to maybe add this to the collection bit by bit... but let's start in The Hague / Den Haag.On Komoot there is already a lot to find about the Marskramerpad, but I am also very happy with the booklet of wandelnet (ISBN 9789492641113), which contains a lot of useful information and fun facts.Join me on my adventure, starting at the end of October 2023 - ending ? *unknown*
